Within the excerpt, “Franklin D. Roosevelt Biography,” in the video “Disney The American Presidents: Franklin D. Roosevelt,” and in the article, “Biography: Franklin D Roosevelt,” all sources conveyed the ambition and determination FDR had throughout his life when faced with both personal and political conflicts. Though FDR has many problems, both personal and political, he was able to persevere efficiently through all of them. Inside the excerpt, “Franklin D. Roosevelt Biography,” FDR’s efficient undertaking of both political and personal issues, does not only blind him with fear, but brings up the confidence to solve them. “...the summer of 1921, Roosevelt contracted polio myelitis… he never regained the use of his legs” (4). He decided to start helping others who had polio, and eventually funding an organization to hopefully give others the freedom to walk again unlike himself. March of Dimes, the organization FDR started, eventually manufactured an efficient vaccine to rid the disability from others. “Factory closings, farm foreclosures, and bank failures increased, while unemployment soared. Roosevelt faced the greatest crisis in American history since the Civil War" (7)..” (7). FDR’s presidency was thrusted into one of the worst economic calamities in American history. As Americans were starting to realize the grim reality they were living, FDR realized the solutions he needed to take to ensure a better tomorrow. Immediate actions were taken in a special session of Congress which the outcome of such a session became the New Deal. The New Deal was FDR’s way to get his country back on the world’s center stage, and it worked perfectly.
