Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on January 30th , 1882 in Hyde Park, New York and was an only child. FDR’s education was thanks mostly to his parents, James and Sara Roosevelt, and his private tutors. Attending a preparatory college, Groton, from 1896 - 1900 and later Harvard for three years. Throughout his life, Franklin D. Roosevelt always looked up to Theodore Roosevelt, who was president during FDR’s time in Harvard. Even though most of his family was Republican, FDR began his politics as Democrat. Roosevelt’s early time in politics, was in the senate. 1910 was the beginning of Roosevelt and politics, as a New York senator. Even though this district had voted Republican for 35 consecutive years, his campaigning was able to ensure his victory. He supported President Woodrow Wilson who also appointed him as Assistant Secretary of the Navy in which he was for seven years. During the stock market crash of 1929, Roosevelt was governor of New York and created the Temporary Emergency Relief Administration which helped 1/10 of New York families find jobs. …show more content…

Symptoms of the disease began and it came to the point where a breeze was painful on his lower body. His concerned wife, Eleanor called many different doctors to find something that could help. Dr. Keen, one of the doctors Eleanor Roosevelt contacted, suggested that there was just a blood clot in his lower spinal cord and massages would help. However, later Dr. Robert. Lovett who was a polio expert, diagnosed FDR with polio and explained that massages would only make it worse. Roosevelt did not want to believe the news, and did everything possible to live a normal life. In public, Roosevelt would wear a brace on each leg, and he was able to walk if trying hard enough.
