Franklin D. Roosevelt was born to his parents Sara and James Roosevelt in Hyde Park, New York on January 30th, 1882. Sara and James Roosevelt were wealthy and made their money through real estate and trade. Because of his family's fortune, Franklin Roosevelt was able to receive an education at an early age from private tutors, which was not common at this point of time. At the age of only fourteen years old, in the year of 1896, Franklin went to a prestige all boys private school in Massachusetts. This school was known as "Groton School for Boys." After leaving Groton at the age of eighteen in the year of 1900, Franklin went to Harvard and graduated in only three years. After graduating from Harvard, he went on to study at the Law School of Columbia. While Franklin Roosevelt was in law school at Columbia in 1905, he married his Wife, and fifth cousin, Elenore Roosevelt. He did not graduate from Columbia school of law; he did however pass the BAR exam to become a lawyer in 1907. The public absolutely loved Roosevelt because he was not afraid to fight corruption within the state. He was a very successful state senator and many of his policies were loved by locals- which eventually awarded Roosevelt national attention from president Woodrow Wilson, who was also a democrat. Franklin supported Woodrow Wilson and his support eventually landed him a job working in Washington D.C. In 1912, Woodrow Wilson appointed Franklin Delano Roosevelt to be the assistant secretary of the navy. Roosevelt was a very good administrator, who not only loved working in this position, but was extremely successful at it.
