Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He was one of many great men to serve our country. He gave us national parks, and more freedom to the presidency. Roosevelt also pushed to have the pure food and drug act. He served in the presidency from 1901 to 1909 and was known as one of the ablest presidents and an icon of the Progressive Era. Theodore Roosevelt or Teddy for short, was born in New York City, New York, on October, 27, 1858. As a young child, he suffered from asthma, so he was homeschool until he went off the college. Teddy became in involved with, weight lifting, boxing, horseback riding, hunting, etc. As he became involved with these things little did he know it would help him in the long run while he was in the presidency. In 1876 Teddy Roosevelt entered Harvard College. Four years after graduating, he married a woman named Alice Hathaway Lee, and had a daughter with her. In 1882 Teddy began his first political terms in the New York State Assembly, which is one of the houses of government in New York. Under Roosevelt's administration the gathering was to be committed to opening equivalent open doors to all who were qualified to serve and work in government. Then in 1895 Teddy Roosevelt came back to New York City and became the head man of the police board. He made sure the law was well kept and honesty was everywhere, this often led him to disputes with the leaders of his Republican party. Teddy Roosevelt made changes and they led to; modernizing the police force, corruption rates were low, and raising moral to new heights.
