Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born to an affluent family on January 30, 1882 in New York. His father, James was very rich- he owned tracts of land and he was also the Vice President of the Delaware and Hudson Railway and President of the Southern Railway Security Company. His mother, Sara, was rich herself and was very attached to her only son, and was also his early teacher along with his governesses. Roosevelt had his own horse and boat, and traveled to Europe with his mother 8 times before turned 15!
Roosevelt's father taught him about wildlife and swimming. While swimming at Campobello, he got infected with polio which was not treatable in those days.This left him wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. This was a

Saved failing banks- During the Great Depression, many people were withdrawing their money from banks and keeping it at home as they were scared that banks will fail and they will lose all their money. Rossevelt called a special session of Congress the day after the inauguration and declared a four-day banking holiday that shut down the banking system, including the Federal Reserve.This action was followed a few days later by the passage of the Emergency Banking Act, which was intended to restore Americans’ confidence in banks when they reopened.
2. Helped unemployed and those needing assistance - by introducing the Social Security Act. Enacted August 1935, this act which created the Social Security system in the United States. Although the program has been altered since then, the original purpose was to provide federal assistance to those unable to work.
3. Created jobs - Roosevelt helped create jobs by setting up organizations that employed people for jobs like cleaning buildings and parks. These jobs payed well and helped the society and the workers who now had money to go spend. This also helped the US
