Romeo and Juliet: Friar Lawrence is the villain of the play. In Shakespeare Friar Lawrence is known as the priest who eventually is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Then some people may assume that he is the bad guy, the villain for marrying them from the begging, and later on complicating everything and causing several deaths.
“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.” The tragic story of Romeo and Juliet was caused by the mistakes of Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence developed a plan that would allow Romeo and Juliet to be together. However, Friar Laurence did not realize that his plan would have to go perfectly in order to be effective in a positive way. Friar Laurence made four crucial mistakes in his plan that would lead to the death of Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo and Juliet is a play about star-crossed lovers. Romeo is apart of a high class Montague family; their rival is the Capulet family. Romeo falls in love with the daughter of Lord Capulet. They want to get married but they know that this will not be approved between their family feud. This is why they secretly ask Friar Laurence to marry them in secret.
Friar Lawrence is the main one at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In the tale of Romeo and Juliet, you can tell that that Friar Lawrence played a big role in each of their life’s. When Romeo and Juliet first came about they immediately fell in love. It shows this by saying, “Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear”.
The Killer Friar A Friar is a man of God. A man of whom is supposed to help God’s loving children and followers and a man whom is supposed to know what is best when it comes to being asked for advice. Friar Laurence in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is anything but what a Friar is supposed to be and ends up causing the deaths of four of six characters within the play. Friar Laurence did not physically go up and murder these characters but indirectly caused these deaths through leaving a suicidal alone and relying solely on the Church and himself rather than outside forces.
The tale of Romeo and Juliet ends with the death of the two lovers. But there is a reason behind their passing. Friar Lawrence, a priest in Verona, had a big part of the play, and may be the reason for Romeo and Juliet to lay still forever in their graves. The friar was the one that devised the plan to fake Juliet’s death, but ran away in cowardice when he was afraid.
Love. Catastrophe. Death. In this play, two teenagers fall in love in the matter of hours. Their love is forbidden because of a rancor between their families.
Romeo and Juliet could have lived out their lives if Friar Lawrence had not done the things he did. Friar Lawrance meant well but the choices he made caused Romeo and Juliet's death. If he hadn't made the plans he did and told their parents instead maybe things could've been different. Instead, he agreed to marry them and he even admitted that he was guilty. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married them, he admitted it was his fault, and he made unrealistic plans.
There are many different opinions on who or what was the cause of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Although individuals are responsible for their own decisions and actions, outside forces often influence those decisions. Friar Lawrence’s poor decision making ultimately led the two leads to take their own lives. For example, in Act 2 Scene 6, after realizing that marrying Romeo and Juliet could end the feud between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s he agrees to wed them saying, “Come, come with me, and we will make short work; till holy church incorporate two in one.”
Undoubtedly, Romeo and Juliet relied on Friar Lawrence’s unethical plan. Friar explains the vials effects, “A cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse/ Shall keep his native progress, but surcease./ No warmth, no breath shall testify thou livest./” (A4:S1:98-99) Friar Lawrence tells Juliet what she is going to feel after drinking the poison. He exaggerated his plan in an attempt to move along.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare both had a tragic death caused by their love for one another but other than Romeo and Juliet who else is to blame for these tragic deaths? A lot of characters had such little play in their death but who´s the most and least responsible? One of the more responsible characters is Lord Capulet and another more responsible character is Frair Lawrence. And the nurse is the least responsible but why? Who had the most responsibility for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet?
Such finish two young lovers had endured at a young age. Juliet, a girl who has never dated, falls in love with her adversary. Romeo, an immature, heartbroken boy who lusted over Juliet. They both wanted to get married behind their parents’ back, and succeeded with tragic deaths. At the end, who’s fault really was it?

Romeo and Juliet is the story of two star crossed lovers (Romeo and Juliet) from families that have a long line of hatred toward each other. In this story, a priest named Friar Lawrence really influences the course of events between the two lovers and their families. Through this character, Friar Lawrence, we can get a glimpse of what Shakespeare thought of the church. Though this character we can see that shakespeare thought of the church as a positive force.
People can be pressured into doing things that could potentially impact the rest of their lives. More often than not, this impact is usually negative and would result in changing the way their lives would naturally end up. In my opinion, Friar Laurence is one of these people because of the decisions he chose to make while being pressured by a child. In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, many people are impacted based on the pressures of one individual.
Tragedy is all around us in the world. The tragedy of Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet is that so many people receive fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence is at fault because he tells Juliet to fake her death and he is unable to communicate this to Romeo. Fate is also to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
