In the story, Romeo and Juliet, there are many things that go wrong. The person to blame for all of these wrong doings is Friar Lawrence. He does many foolish things that make Romeo and Juliet preform idiotic tasks. The friar should be blamed for everything that has happened to Romeo and Juliet because he convinced them to get married, supported Juliet and became friends with her, and he gave never made sure that Romeo received the letter that told him the plan. These are all events that make for a horrific ending. The Friar is one of the few people that know about Romeo and Juliet’s hidden love. At the start she would talk to the Nurse about Romeo all the time but then the Nurse did not approve of what was going on and she had no one left to turn to but the friar. He worked up a plan that could put both Romeo and Juliet in a life or death situation. The friar’s plan is to have Juliet marry Paris, then the night before the wedding she will consume a drinking potion that will make her appear dead, she will then be taken to the Capulet tomb, and then the friar will send word to Romeo to help him retrieve her when she wakes. The friar tells the Capulet’s that Juliet is dead, “Peace, ho, for shame! Confusion’s cure lives not In these confusions. Heaven and yourself Had part in this fair maid-now heaven hath all, And all the better is it for the maid…O, in this love, you love your child so ill That you run mad, seeing that she is well. She’s not well married that dies married young…” (Shakespeare 460). The Capulet’s are confused and terrified that their poor daughter has died. Friar Lawrence had given Friar John the letter that was supposed to get to Romeo although, Friar John never gave it to him. When Romeo sees that Juliet is “dead” he kills himself. After this occurs Juliet wakes up to see Romeo dead and in turn kills herself
