Most people are familiar with the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. It is a classic play by William Shakespeare where two kids in feuding families fall in love and eventually kill themselves just to be together. The play has a few characters to blame for this tragedy, such as Tybalt and Friar Laurence, but the most apparent one would be Romeo. The first character, Tybalt, was introduced as being a hothead and was very violent. In Act 3 Scene 1, Tybalt and Romeo fight. This fight leads to Romeo killing Tybalt. This outcome further complicates things in the story, because Romeo is banished from Verona and Juliet must stay there. This leads to Juliet making a plan to escape and be with Romeo, however the escape plan was not told to Romeo so he ended up overreacting and ruining the couple's future together. …show more content…

Tybalt's actions in the play certainly helped the outcome to happen, but he is not the one we should blame. Another person that can be blamed for the outcome of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence is a reasonable person to blame because he married Romeo and Juliet and contributed a lot to the tragic outcome, however he should not be the one we blame because he just did what he was told. One example that someone could use to put the blame on him is that since he married them he caused many problems down the road and if he didn’t marry them they would both still be alive. This is wrong because both of the lovers asked him to do it. Even if he did not wed the two lovers, they would have proceeded with their relationship against everyone else’s will. Romeo insisted that they get married and forced the Friar into it, therefore leading to the tragic outcome of this play. Due to this information, Friar Laurence cannot be the one that is blamed for the
