Gates encountered many successful battles, he was also known for having very little courage when it came to fighting in the fields. Furthermore, Gates generated a plan to have George Washington removed as commander-in-chief of the Continental army. Lastly, Horatio was prominent for being in constant competition with George Washington, causing friction between the two leaders.

I am in the process of completing the Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in finance with an expected graduation in 2019. I’m writing this letter to express my interest in the Haskayne Coop program. I am particularly interested in the program because I am eager to expand on my academic and extracurricular experiences to discover the value I can bring to employers. Overall, my experiences have facilitated the advancement of interpersonal skills, analytical ability and most importantly, they have enabled me to acquire a strong sense of initiative. Being comfortable with working with people is an essential skill, applicable to any field.
I am interested in joining GOAL Academy in its quest to provide students with alternative pathways to complete their high school education. This is sparked by my experience with students who require a different path to school success, including my work with at-risk secondary students in alternative programs and my own children, who benefitted from online education options. All can thrive given the structure offered by your program. Your passion to remove barriers and support students is something I share, both as a parent and a teacher.
I find it is very gratifying to know that when we all work together for a common cause, the outcome is beneficial to people in our community. These experiences in the New Hampton community have created and strengthened my values of hard work, academic success through education, and community participation. As an eager young person, I believe these are the key factors in having a career and being successful in life. I know that many of my peers share my enthusiasm for success and the New Hampton community has a history of strengthening young people to become successful adults. Andrew Carnegie was not a hero because he didn’t help those who needed it most, believed in Social Darwinism, and was leading society into a downfall. Andrew Carnegie was a man who was born poor, but became rich by investing into steel.
Joining this organization would allow me to grow as an individual in school and outside of school, and as a person. I believe I show many great qualities that demonstrate the four pillars that this organization stands by Leadership, Character, Service, and Scholarship.
Every University of Michigan college tour that I went on (and there have been many, University of Michigan is very popular in my family) and every time I was at Ann Arbor, I marveled at Ross’s beautiful building and dreamt of being a student there. Ross would support me and my interests as a student because I believe that Ross doesn’t make evil CEO’s like I had seen in the movies; Ross makes leaders in the business world. I feel corporate America has been my greatest teacher for learning different cultures and respecting those cultures in the workplace. I have been blessed in that the companies I have worked for have put important emphasis on culture in the workplace and how to learn to interact with people of different values, skillsets, experiences, and backgrounds. This has greatly helped me in my career because it has broadened my skillsets. For example, by learning how to communicate with a team that works offshore, I have learned better time management and how to adjust my written communication to avoid confusion. On a more personal note, one of my very good friends is a man from an offshore team in India that I worked with at a previous employer.
As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. My contributions through this organization have made a significant impact on both my personal development and my community’s support services. The numerous volunteer projects in which I have participated have prepared me to continue helping others in the future. Through projects such as building houses from the ground-up with Habitat for Humanity, I have developed teamwork skills, discovered my management potential, and increased my social network, all while working to provide services for less fortunate individuals in my community.
