In its quest to increase same sex marriage, America is going state by state to provide pros and cons to those who are against gay marriages. While many disagree with the new laws and trends being brought to the plate, supporters ask why? By examining the economic growth, the benefits,and the right of the American people it is evident there is more good than bad coming from the legalization of gay marriage. As Americans we take pride in our freedoms, and the idea of the American dream. However, currently here in America we are denying freedoms to many of our citizens. In places where gay marriages are banned, the gay couples are not able to have the same benefits as others. Parenthood is a benefit of marriage and gay couples cannot have children by themselves, without some type of help, so they look to adoption agencies. In some cases gay couples are put on longer waiting lists or denied completely. There are other benefits to being married as well, such as tax breaks. When filing for health care or insurance through a job, gay couples are not able to add each other on. Most loved ones, such as a spouse or a child, in a straight marriage, can make life altering decisions in a hospital if need be. Since gay marriage is not legal, said person’s spouse is not recognized as their next of kin and care is delayed. It is not fair to hold tax returns and visa passes from a person due to their sexual preference. Allowing these benefits has created a slight growth to Americans population because of the gay and lesbian couples wanting to be married but Their country not allowing it to happen. Many immigration benefits are tied to marital status. For example, a non-U.S. citizen may obtain a nonimmigrant visa or permanent residence, and later citizenship status, when engaged or married to a U.S. citizen This has opened eyes of many politician in other countries and the legalization has not only become an American movement but has led to a world wide
