In today's world many things or being considered normal: Being gay, transgender, or biosexual. In June, 2015 gay marriage was legalized upon all fifty states across America. This is extremely empowering, I may not be gay but to have America; a place where people become whoever they desire helps us as a whole to put societies standards in the past and keep them there. I believe that people have the right express themselves freely with disregard to stereotypes, judgement, or background. In society stereotypes were made to label individuals, but with the upcoming generations obliterating those labels with the jocks being gay and cheerleader not being straight it puts into perspective how many young kids just want to be themselves, and how as a whole we just need to accept everyone for themselves. Whether it be family, peers, or friends that won’t accept them or judgement on social media it traps people from expressing themselves freely. They are afraid of getting shut out or disowned for being themself. Many overlook the harm that comes to individuals that are homosexuals. Numerous different types of crimes are committed against homosexuals each year: shootings, assault, or even murder against individuals that are L.G.B.T.(Lesbian, Gay, Biosexual, Trangender) People shouldn’t be punished for putting themselves out there just because people or homophobic.
