Most people think of themselves to not conform, but more people conform than what many people think of. Research from the Asch Conformity Experiment suggests, people are often much more prone to conform than they believe they might be. Genesis Begins Again is a book made by Alica D Williams that relates to the conformity phenomenon. The book tells of a thirteen-year old girl, Genesis, struggling to fit in. She struggles with the switching of schools, her family problems, and her fitting in, particularly conformity.
The book of Genesis, the sacred text of the ancient Hebrew people, is the first book of the Pentateuch in the Old Testament of the Hebrew Bible. Along with creation, the Genesis narrative tells tales of innocence, the loss of innocence, the wickedness of mankind, Noah and the flood, and
‘Book of Genesis,’ is considered the setting stage for the Holy Bible. This story ultimately explains what God's plan is for his creation. The Documentary Hypothesis states that four different authors wrote the Pentateuch, called J, Yahwist, E, Elohist, P, Priestly, and D, Deuteronomist. The book of Exodus shows evidence of writers J, E, and P. The subject of chapters 25-31 and 35-40 suggests that they were written completely by the Priestly writer.a The Yahwist author shows up in some writing, but the Priestly and Elohist are more obvious.b 4. There have been endless debates concerning the Story of Creation. Genesis 1 provides us with the story that God created the universe in six days, and on the seventh day he rested, which the Catholic Church believed for many years. However, there are so many scientific theories, like the Big Bang Theory and the theory of organic evolution, that prove the Earth was created through scientific means. The Big Bang Theory states that 13.77 billion years ago, the universe was a tiny particle that suddenly expanded by an explosion and formed the world we know today.
It became accepted by the Hebrew community that Moses was the author of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and the majority of Deuteronomy. However, during the translation of the Torah by the Greeks, in 300BC, it became essential that Moses be identified as the author of the Torah followed by the early Latin translators, beginning in 390AD, who also agreed that Moses was the author of the Torah. For centuries and even still today nearly all traditional biblical historians, scholars and theologians claim that Moses with the exception of the last few verses that was the author of the first five books of the Old Testament. Introduction Moses is one of the most significant figures in the Old Testament and is recognized to be the author of the Pentateuch. He was born to a Levite family and adopted by an Egyptian Princess, and lived a good life. The book of Exodus also tells us that after the killing of an Egyptian he fled to Midian and became a shepherd, where he had his encounter with God in the form of a burning bush. Moses was chosen by God and told to return Pharaoh where he was to bring redemption to His people, and to lead the Israelites from captivity in Egypt to salvation in the promised land.
The story of Genesis is full of complex meanings and messages that can only be found using the correct frameworks. I believe that using the theological, literary, and scientific frameworks, in addition to comparing and contrasting with other creation stories, is the most fulfilling method of reading Genesis. Using this method creates multiple perspectives that compliment each other to create a broad, yet, intentional perspective. Without this method or an inaccurate method, trying to analyze genesis can create false understandings and misinterpretation of the story. It's important to have a strong understanding of Genesis because how you read it determines how you interpret the rest of the bible.
To ignore issues of justice and integrity exposes the church to accusations of aiding injustice. Genesis 2 clearly reveals that God created humankind to live together in community; being called the people of God requires even greater attention to injustice, especially that perpetuated by God’s people. Historically, when interpreting Jesus’ teachings and work, Churches have emphasized the spiritual over the social/physical needs of persons. The numbers of converts that churches proudly proclaim (but cannot always locate) reveal a proclivity for addressing spiritual needs to the neglect of the social.
BOOK X GENESIS and SAMUEL – under the spotlight What do theological students do at theological colleges? The following may give you some insights into the work theological and bible colleges undertake on behalf of the churches that abrogate their responsibility to teach their people about the Bible. A typical question the students may be asked to research could be something like the following: “Examine the double or multiple accounts in Genesis and 1 Samuel and determine whether some biblical scholars are correct in seeing them as just single events that are turned into double or multiple events.
Genesis 1: Genesis 1 in the Bible is the beginning of the universe and how God created life. At the beginning, God created Earth and Heaven and demanded there to “be light (genesis 1).” On the first day, God created Day and Night. On the second day, He created heaven and Earth. On the third day, He created plants with seeds.
Here lies an underlying theme of the book. Mankind should not play the game of god, because when he does bad things happens. Imagine yourself all the combined data that is the genes, picture the form of a helix in front of you. Now think that these helixes is build up with lego blocks. If you take the Genesis literally it means that the originals were created by God.
