In Genesis 6-9 we read about the flood. The main point of this story is that God cares about the world. God is a loving person and he hates corruption. In Genesis 6:11 it says that God saw the earth as corrupt and full of violence, so he had to change this, by sending the flood. He wanted his world to be new again and to be like it was when he first created it.
On the fifth day God created the birds, fish and other sea creatures. The beginning of chapter two of Genesis wraps up chapter one, explaining that on the sixth day God created the rest of the land, animals, and made humans in his own image. And on the seventh day, God ceased from work and rested, and blessed that day. Later in chapter two it begins to explain creation in the garden. It is explained that before any living thing had touched the earth, God created a stream that watered the land and from the soil of the land he created the first human.
Genesis speaks of God’s promise to send a redeemer. Genesis explains that God spoke and the Universe, the Earth, animals, plants, and man were created. After God had Adam (man) name all of the animals, he realized that Adam needed a partner so he created Eve (woman) out of Adam’s rib to be by his side, his partner in life. God commanded all of his creations to be fruitful and multiply. Man disobeyed God’s one rule which was not to eat from a certain tree; the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
There have been endless debates concerning the Story of Creation. Genesis 1 provides us with the story that God created the universe in six days, and on the seventh day he rested, which the Catholic Church believed for many years. However, there are so many scientific theories, like the Big Bang Theory and the theory of organic evolution, that prove the Earth was created through scientific means. The Big Bang Theory states that 13.77 billion years ago, the universe was a tiny particle that suddenly expanded by an explosion and formed the world we know today.
Water Being Involved Water was and still is one of the most important elements that is an essential element of human life. Without water no human would be able to live, just going a mere three days without water would lead to death by dehydration. Specifically, Genesis 1:26, indicates an affirmation between the three persons of the Trinity to make man and woman so they would rule be fruitful and multiply in the Earth. God blesses man in Genesis 2:4 – 9 by giving man life and shows care by putting them in a garden that was pleasing and good for sustenance. God saw that everything he made was good and he completed his work. It is clear in Genesis 1 it took six days for God to create everything.
As Christians, when trying to interpret the Bible, we should ask God to enhance our understanding of His scripture in such a way that He wants us to comprehend it. We have the right to bring our prior knowledge when interpreting the Bible, but as a believer, we also understand that God does the supernatural. Science is not our only means of truth. Although it provides many answers, it can’t explain everything. Science offers natural explanations of natural events, but it has no power or need to assert that only natural events occur (Hutchinson 2016).
The very first verse of Genesis says it all in my opinion it says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. This verse shows us that it was God that created all things, and that without him we would not exist. However with the creation of all things came satan in the form of a snake, which tempted Adam, and Eve in the garden which brought sin into the world. The first listen we learn about through Abraham is that through faith we can overcome sin.
The book of Genesis is the first section of the bible which is part of the old testament. The author I this section introduces God and his importance to mankind. Genesis is not interested in how the world was created rather he focuses more on why god created the world. In other words, he writes about god and his creation of world to better understand his role. At the time that much of the scriptures were being written science was not the focus since it wasn’t available.

While this story is accepted based on faith, science shows a similar event that resulted in the creation of the universe.
