I believe that George Washington did an outstanding job during his time as the leader of the Continental Army. Despite the fact that George Washington did have his failures, his brilliance and numerous successes can't be overlooked. Washington was faced with an incredibly hard task of leading an army that was subpar in almost every aspect in comparison to the British army. This can be seen throughout 1776, “On paper his army numbered between 8,000 and 10,000. In reality only half that number were fit for duty,” (McCullough 79) This excerpt shows how while he wasn't able to get his entire army in adequate shape, he was still able to achieve significant victories despite that statistic. “According to his own returns, Washington had 8,880 men
