It is not an uncommon expectation for employers, regardless of their market cap, to have active social media accounts spanning from one to four different websites. The Board has only just begun to address the many issues raised by this new mode of communication. Thus far, however, it has failed to match the speed of the evolution of social networks. During the past several years, the Board consistently found that employees engaged in protected activity when they posted negative statements about their employers on social media websites. In doing so, the board failed to acknowledge the important aspects of social media that makes it wholly distinct from the traditional workplace
Should Schools Monitor Students Social Media!?!? Have you ever showed up at school and had a friend or classmate tell you about a rumor directed towards you? I think schools should monitor students social media posts but, only if there seems to be problems occurring and disrupting the class. Cyberbullying can lead to low self esteem and depression, causing worse things. Document E, document B and, document D all agree with limiting/monitoring students online speech.
Some people may say that social media has more positives than negatives, and others may say the opposite. In this essay I will be talking about why I believe social media has a major negative effect on people. Social media is actively used by many people around the world, especially teens. Social media can be used to share your ideas with others, gain information, and as a source of entertainment. But, it can also have negative effects, leading to insecurities, bullying, threats, and even harm.

Even though there are these law and regulations put into place to make sure these companies don’t break them, it still can occur which in turn puts the company’s ethics into question. This can be seen in the article Ethics and the Five Deadly Sins of Social Media, written by David Vinjamuri. This author discusses how certain businesses have made some costly errors when it comes to managing social media, then he goes into explaining the five things to avoid when your businesses are dealing with social media. The first thing is to avoid is unreported endorsements because when a company gives a form of payment to a blogger or tweeter, it would be considered a paid endorsement and must be disclosed. The next thing to avoid is improper anonymity
The PR case study I have chosen to write about is from PRnewsonline.com, the article is called The Secrete Sauce for the Cranberry’s Social Media Win With Millennials. This case study talks about how the Cranberry Marketing Committee wanted the cranberry to make an appearance in the holiday known as Friendsgiving. With their efforts the committee was able to continue you their campaign a second time. The reason I picked this case study is because cranberry is sauce is my favorite part of Thanksgiving.
Social media has a bigger presence than ever before: in our homes, schools, and, most frequently used, in our pockets in the form of our cellphones. With the rise of electronic sharing and openness in our community, why should potential employers or college admission officers think twice about browsing the internet in search of information on potential candidates? The truth is… they shouldn’t. Many candidates for jobs and college scholarships or grants are users of social media sites such as Facebook, which users collectively spend over 10 billions minutes on daily (Source C).
HR managers must stay abreast of NLRB decisions to determine how social media cases are handled. Previous decisions can give insight to what actions are permissible. For example, in October of 2010, NLRB cited a complaint against the American Medical Response of Connecticut for firing an employee for making negative remarks against her supervisor (Stoler, 2010). The employee’s response on social media was determined to be protected; therefore, her termination was illegal. For this reason, policy language regarding the use of social media should be specific and void of broad language that could be disputed and challenged (Dewey, 2014).

After blogging was invented, social media exploded with popularity.
The rise of social networking has been a hallmark of the early 21st century. In the past decade, sites such as Facebook and Twitter grew to become not only a tool for building personal connections, but also a powerful platform for spreading ideas and broadcasting expressions. Coinciding with this explosion of online social activities, meanwhile, is the public’s growing detachment from traditional corporate media.
