Dear Diary,

Today Prim was selected as tribute but I chose to take her place. The audience was silent to show how they oppose these games. They did hold their fingers to their lips and raise their hand to me. This made me feel loved. It is how we show appreciate and say goodbye. I want to cry but I know I can’t that will show weakness and I cannot be weak. If I am weak I will be a target. Peeta was also chosen as the boy tribute. I am not friends with him, but years ago he gave me some bread which helped save my family. Even though it was burnt we still were thankful. I hope I do not have to kill him. I feel like I should not have feelings of appreciation for him.

We all stand around the ring and look at where we are. We have 60 minutes to gather our things and if we move to fast land mines will be activated. My trainer tells me to run away fast, but I want the bow and arrow I see. Peeta looks at me and I can tell he wants me to run. I ran but decided to grab some bread and a boy fights with me for it. He is hit and dies. I ran and ran and luckily I had the pack behind my head because a knife is thrown at me and hits the sack. At least I have a weapon now. I am so scared but cannot let it show.

I ran as much as I could trying to find water and trying to get away from everyone. I need to survive and I need water. I heard eleven cannon shots and I know that means eleven are dead. I hope I do not see anyone I know when they show the pictures. This means that there are only twelve others and me left in this game. I must survive. I think of Peeta and hope he has survived.

I finally stop for the night, I take out my sleeping bag and climb into a tree. I belt myself in so I do not fall and I watch the pictures of the dead. I am so happy that I did not see Peeta’s face. I finally go to sleep only to be awoke by the sound to cracking twigs and I freeze. It is another tribute and she is making a fire. A fire will bring trouble. Why is she doing this? Soon others come and the girl is killed. I knew this would happen. I do not make a sound so they do not find and kill me. I am so

However, I woke up today and realized above me is a wasp nest. I hope they are real wasps and not the mutations called Tracker Jackers. Those thinks are bigger than regular wasps and when they sting you the venom will cause you to have hallucinations and you can even die if enough of them sting you. I am stuck in this tree with people who want to kill me below. I decided that the smoke from their fire has caused the wasps to sleep so I decide to take the nest down. I sure hope they do not sting me. Well I got stung 3 times, but I was able to drop that nest on the people below. They all took off for the water. When I climbed down I found a gift of medicine for my blisters. It felt so good to use that
