We will be looking at the personality of Cameron Smith from Going Bovine by Libba Bray (2010). We will be describing his personality from an idiographic and nomothetic approach (Ashton, 2012). Throughout the book, Cameron’s personality will begin to change while keeping his fundamentals. Idiographic Some of Cameron’s more noteworthy traits his sense of adventure/ willingness to try new things, his lack of motivation and that he is oblivious to many things. Firstly, we can look at his sense of adventure/ his willingness to try new things; the reason that I believe that this would be one of his more noteworthy traits is due to the fact that when he was sitting in the hospital bed the angel Dulcie she told him that to cure his Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (Mad Cow Disease). One being when Dulcie told him that he should sneak out of the hospital and travel across the country to find the Doctor. He also agreed with Tara a character he had only meet briefly before being dragged to a house party even though he never really does anything. Another example would be when he first came across Balder and agreed to take Balder with them on their adventure. He was quick to accept that he was also speaking to a talking gnome claiming to be a Viking god. Cameron’s level of conscientiousness would be low. Because he wasn’t organized throughout the entire trip. It was almost as if he just woke up one morning and right there and then he decided to buy a bus pass and go across the country without ever planning where he was going. The most organized he was, was following the bus signs and road sign to get to the doctor. Throughout the entire trip as mentioned above, he always ended up situations which could’ve been avoided if he was more organized about the entire trip and took time to pre-plan
