This statement is true for the most part, because if you have an advantage that others don 't have you will have the upper hand as that is what an advantage is. Most of the time you look down at someone it is because you have something that they don 't, so you will have criticized them for not having your advantage in life. At the same time they could criticize you for something that you don 't have but they do.

This statement rings true to me because I myself have criticized people and had been criticized in both the past and present. One example of this would be whenever I do not as good as someone on a quiz that someone will most likely brag about it, in turn criticizing you on not doing as well as them. In addition to the type of criticism that most people have done.There is another more personal and more controversial example of this would be people judging on what race you are whether for good or for worse. Like the stereotype that all Asians are good at math or that all Asians are bad at sports, those are both an example of a "good" stereotype and a "bad" stereotype. As an Asian myself I have personally had a multitude of those stereotypes told to me by fellow students at my school, but I do not doubt that more people have placed more stereotypes on me without my …show more content…

There also lies a more positive meaning behind the quote, which is the uniqueness between the human species. The later part of the quote says that not everyone has the same advantages you have, so in my interpretation of this it means that not everyone has gone through what you have and that everyone is not skilled in the way you are or the way I am. Proof lies in both me the writer and you the reader, in the way that we are most definitely different, as you are most likely teacher or a peer, have different skills and most importantly are criticizing my skills and "advantages" I have by reading this paper.

In conclusion this statement in my opinion is true and I would also like it to be true as if we didn 't have our own advantages in life we would all be eerily similar and life itself would be boring. Although I like the latter part of the quote I don 't exactly like the first part of the quote, as it projects a negative thought/ideal on to the world we live in, but this is part of the human nature, and like myself we are all guilty of
