Weapons can be used for good and bad. for good they can be helpful for protection and defense. For bad they can be used to kill or severely injure people and animals. Weapons in the middle ages helped protect kingdoms and wars gave power to people. Some good things about weapons in the kingdom was, weapons defended the people. In Michelle Byam's book “arms and armor" she states the most common hand weapons at this time. Those weapons included axes, swords, lances, knives and daggers. Hand weapons were the easiest weapons for self defense and defense on others, and they did some damage to the opponent but not as much as a gun would. In the Metropolitan Museum of Art's article on knights and feudalism, it states that knights and protection are very important to the feudal system. Without a feudal system the kingdom would crumble. If a bunch of serfs were killed then there would be a labor shortage, if a bunch of knights were killed there would be a protection shortage, if a bunch of nobles were killed then there would be power and management shortage. The feudal system unlocks the door to a stable kingdom, without it the kingdom would have many many problems. Weapons provided defense, physically and metaphorically weapons protected the kingdom because they helped the feudal system stay strong and provided defense from enemies for the kingdom. There were many wars and battles during this time period, those wars gave power over land and others to people.
