Napoleon Hill once said, “The starting point of all achievement is desire” (Rivera, 2013).
In life, individuals strive to be successful; however, how does one measure their success over their lifetime. I know people believe success is measured by all of the accomplishments one has achieved in their lifetime. I believe obtaining a graduate degree would be a significant accomplishment in my personal and professional life. A graduate degree provide me with the education experience which would allow me to seek different positions in law enforcement. The speech reflected Officer Minton’s professionalism and enthusiasm about the job he was performing for the community. This inspired me and gave me the initial thought which gave me inspiration to be a police officer and serve the community as a role model. After graduating high school, due to the age requirement to be a Police Officer, I enlisted and remained on active duty in the United States Marines Corps for four and half years. After completing my military enlistment, I attended Austin Peay State University for one semester. In January 1998, I started the hiring process for the Clarksville Police Department; thereafter, I was hired by the Clarksville Police Department in April 1998.
Over the next eighteen years, I served in the capacity as a patrol officer, narcotics detective, patrol sergeant, and lieutenant. In addition, for fourteen years I served as a member of the Clarksville Police Department, Tactical Unit, in the capacity as an entry team member, squad leader, assistant team commander, and team commander. As a narcotics investigator, I was the lead investigator in many state and federal large drug conspiracy investigations, many involved state and federal wiretap investigations.
