I am Mbus Mbock Masse Melvin from Buea in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. As education today has been made available to a greater population, there rises a problem for greater efficiency in teaching so that education for more people doesn’t result in less education for everyone. This is so because the efficacy of the teacher is reduced due to large class sizes. In order to approach this problem, we need to give renewed attention to some teaching skills and apply them in flexible ways in our schools. I am keen to pursue a career in educational psychology and counseling, to be able to help make teaching more effective and adaptable to the needs of modern education and also to support students to express themselves and be creative.

This included Listening to the aspirations and dreams of the freshmen, and giving them advice on their career development. It also involved addressing students’ academic, personal and social developmental needs. This experience made me understand the emotional, social, developmental and structural factors that affect learning. In my final year in the university, I was employed as a teacher with Cameroon Baptist Academy. I planned and delivered lessons taking into account all levels of learning and used a range of engaging teaching methods to enhance learning. Education has been a key factor in its rapid economic growth over the past four decades as it has emerged as one of East Asia's tiger economies. Today, education remains the guiding principle of South Korean society, from affluent city dwellers to the poorest villagers. By participating in this program, I will get to study the Korean educational system which has an adult literacy rate of 97.3% (World Bank,2002) a tertiary gross enrollment ratio of 103% (UNESCO, 2010) and get to apprehend the differences it has with the Cameroonian educational system. This will benefit me a great deal because on completion of my studies, as I will eventually culminate the best of both worlds into my education. I chose Chungbuk National University because, it is a large international research university in Korea and it is best known for its comprehensive range of degree programs, benefited by continuous access to latest research. I believe this institution connects and share some fundamental values of mine as it won an "Excellent University" award from the Korean Ministry of Education (1997) in educational reform for extending student’s freedom to choose his or her major field. Although I will face some difficulties in communication and moving to a new environment, I believe immersing myself in a different culture gets me to experience an entirely new way of thinking and learning
