Discussion and Conclusion The Gram positive Unk. A-DB was identified to be B. Cereus. This inference was reached though quite a bit of study. Firstly the Gram positive was found to be Bacilli shaped this eliminated the gram negative bacteia and three of the nine possible bacteria, leaveing B. cereus, B. megaterium, B. subtilis, C. diphtheriae, M. phlei and M. smegmatis. A timperature test was proformed so as to eliminate the two bacteria whose optimale temperature is 30°(alt+0176) C or exclude the bacteria that have 37° C as their optimale temperature. The temperature test resulted in the elimantation of B. megaterium and B. subtilis and leaving B. cereus, C. diphtheriae, M. phlei, and M. smegmatis as possible bacteria. The SIM’s test was …show more content…

A-WB was identified to be A. faecalis. This inference was reached though quite a bit of study. Firstly the Gram Negative was found to be Bacilli shaped this eliminated the gram Positive bacteia leaving A. faecalis, E. aerogenes, E. coil, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa, S. typhi, S. marcescens, and S. flexneri. A SIM’s test was proformed on the unknown because it was one of the test that gave the most information while eliminating other bacteria. The SIM’s test results were positive for motility. the fact that the bacteria was motile eliminated K. pneumonia and S. flexneri, leaving A. faecalis, E. aerogenes, E. coil, P. mirabilis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa, S. typhi, and S. marcescens as possible resultes. The SIM’s test also yielded negative result for sulfure reduction thus eliminatine P. mirabilis, P. vulgaris and S. typhi, leaving A. faecalis, E. aerogenes, E. coil, P. aeruginosa, and S. marcescens. The next test done was a glucose test because it would cut the number of possible bacteria almost in half. The results of the glucose test was a negative eliminating E. aerogenes, E. coil, and S. marcescens leaving only two bacteria A. faecalis and P. aeruginosa. P. aeruginosa is positive for both urease and gelatinase while A. faecalis is negative for both enzymes. Both tests were done on Unk. A-WB and resulted in negative results proving that Unk. A-WB was A. …show more content…

A. faecalis is normally considered a nonphathogenic bacteria; although some opportunistic infections occur. When opportunistic infections are causes by A. faecalis they are generally seen as urinary teact infection. A. faecalis is important to the medical field due to it’s contrabution to the prodution of nonstandard amino acids. Bacillus cereus is in the Bacillaceae family it is commonly fould in the food or soil. Some types or strains of B. cereus can be very dangerous to people and cause cases of food poisonings such as fried rice syndrome. While other types of B. cereus can be benificial to animals in the form of probiotics which is what make Bacillus cereus an important bacterium to the medical
