Since the first ever video game, Bertie the Brain was released in 1950, video games kept developing and now it became a huge industry which is mainly controlled by the United States and Japan. However, the British made some impact on the gaming industry as well. For example, the first role-playing game for a computer is produced in England by two students from Essex University. Their names are Richard Bartle and Rob Trubshaw, they created MUD, or Multi-User Dungeon. As it can be understood by the name, it was a multiplayer game. However, since the internet was not that advanced as of 1978, when the game was released, it could only be played through the university network.
