Greek Mythology: Gaea Or Mother Earth

Gaea Pronounced Jee-Uh, Gaea was known as the god of Earth, or Mother Earth. Creating herself from chaos, and going on to create all the first gods would have been a hard job. Along with being the first goddess, and being the first to create herself would have been a hard job, however, it was an important job. But Gaea did it all.
Mother Earth Gaea is known as Mother Earth because she created, or started to create, the Earth. The book, “Treasury of Greek Mythology” states, “She opened her veins so water could rush through rivers and creeks, and pool together in large, low lakes, and small hidden ponds.” This proves that Gaea created Earth, and started most of the first Greek god civilization. Because of this creation, Gaea is now known as Mother Earth.

Every Greek God but one. Because Gaea was the first god, she had to create her family, and then marry. The book, “Treasury of Greek Mythology” states, “She was the cause of all this wonder, yet none of it satisfied her.” and, “She loved them both, of course. But Uranus seemed soothing, while Pontus seemed raging.” This proves that with all Gaea had done, she still wanted more. So she went to her sons Uranus and Pontus to marry. Uranus is who she chose overall, and together they made the Titans, and other gods. Uranus, however, got too overwhelmed with all of their children, and trapped all of the Titans inside of Gaea, or the Earth. In the end, Gaea teamed up with Cronos, her son, and conquered
