In the early 1900’s, society was entering a whole new aspect of life and technology. Realizing this, no precautions were taken into consideration will the development of their technology. Today, engineers work to fix those problems and develop new designs that will propel society into a new technology age. There are many things that engineers have done to fix these problems such as car emission improvement and green engineering. All researched and developed for a better outcome. In 1908, the first car was released for public use known as the Model T. Over the next 60 years, pollution nationwide increased rapidly, but the cause was unknown. Research was eventually able to determine that car emissions was the main cause of the dramatic spike in the nations pollution index. Martin Melosi, author of Automobile in American Life and Society states, that “by 1966, motor vehicles contributed more than 60 percent of the pollutants in the atmosphere throughout the nation” (Melosi). It was then that engineers realized that a new type of system was required in order to decrease the pollution. After the clean air act, and a numerous amount of different act established in the 1990’s, the nations emission rating improved dramatically along with the …show more content…

Cars being released today are the closest they have been to a green vehicle than ever. With the lowest emissions ever recorded and the ability to run on the same amount of fuel for longer periods of time, the car industry is truly redeveloping the idea behind what a car should be. Many cars are now beginning to run on electric batteries that are rechargeable. With this incorporation, less vehicles are using gasoline which in turn requires less fossil fuels and will create less carbon dioxide emissions. Will all these improvement being added to cars, contribution to pollution from cars will be
