Recommended: The Significance of Grit: A Conversation with Angela Lee Duckworth Deborah Perkins-Gough People who can set long-term goals and stick to them have a leg up on success in school and life

People that have grit are 60% more successful than people without grit. Having grit means working hard when life is hard and never giving up. Grit is not what you do to achieve your goals it's how hard you work for them. Grit is never giving up through hard times, determination to work hard and courage through obstacles in life. Having grit leads to success in many ways. This quality shows grit because it can help people not give up even through the hardest times. One example of Mike Ditka doing that is “ When the Bears were down 14 going into the 4th quarter Mike Ditka made a speech to his team about never giving up and they didn't give up and won the game”. Never giving up leads to success because even if you are not doing the best in something and you give up you will never be able to get anything done. Mike Ditka was determined to work his team hard and get them to a super bowl and the #1 defense in the USA. Mike Ditka pushed his team really hard so because of that they became one of the best team and they achieved their goals. Determination leads to success because if you slack off on hard work in school because it's hard you might not get the best grades.
