Identifying Information of Client or Client Group and Referral Information The client I am going to discuss in this case study is JA. JA is an African American male child, between the age of five and six years old. He is a Kindergarten student at the Emerson School. JA resides within the area of Plainfield, New Jersey, in the care of his mother and older sister. He is a polite and intelligent boy when getting to know him. He is very energetic when first met him, and respectful when offering one-on-time time. When introduced to JA, he was an energetic and spontaneous young child when walked into the office I was present in. When arrived in the School Social Worker’s office, by staff in school, the School Social Worker and I were informed of the destructive behavior he was demonstrating in his class. JA was being disrespectful to his teachers and classmates. He has been saying offensive words out loud in class and towards his teachers. He has physically attacked his classmates. Also, JA is very disruptive in class, making it hard for the teachers, and other students to get their assignments done. After being sent to the School Social Worker’s office, I was able to spend some one-on-one time with JA. When present with JA, he informed me of his knowledge of knowing his name, alphabets, and demonstrated his capability in building a model tower. When …show more content…

As psychodynamic “focuses on feelings more, the internal processes,” in other words, the conscious and unconscious forces of individuals (Davis, 2015). This is what I believe is happening due to JA’s actions. JA may be unconscious, as being unaware of inflicting harm when it is actually hurting those around him. From my observation, his thoughts may be informing him that physically hitting his peers is a form of playful interaction.
