Group purpose
To assist MFT learners with tools and importance of Self-care. Instilling that in order to be their best selves and provide the best service to others, they must first take care of their physical, mental and emotional needs. To help other counselors learn more about self care so that the counselors can help others. The target audience is the MFT learners that would like to know the importance of self-care.

However, we would like to use some interventions from the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy model to help with the start of narratives. Use SFT to find observable goals to reduce conflict. Find out what is meaningful to the client. Use the miracle question – “Imagine if you were to go home tonight, during the middle of the night a miracle happened and all your problems where miraculously resolved. What would your world look like?
Scaling questions: On a scale of 1 – 10, how would you rank your problem? 1 being not a problem at all, and 10 meaning that this is the worst problem that you have ever had. How would you rate your problem?
In Narrative Therapy, the therapist might use problem organizing. The therapist would define the problem, discussing what they would like to be done about their problem. The therapist would assess the client’s world-view, and set goals that the client would like to see in their future. The client would also need to talk about what is valuable to them. The therapist can use Relative Influence Questions – this talks about how the problem would relate to those people around them. The therapist would also use deconstruction questions that would invite the client to discuss their problems from another perspective.
