I will be discussing What is Group Process and my different role(s) within the group(s) during in-class exercises. I will also discuss Reflective thinking process and Synergistic Decision Making.
Group Process
As described by the article What is Group Process, (Perlmutter, J. 2018). Group Process is when we observe how a group handles its communication and relationships while the group works. Dimension of Group Process include Participation, Influence, Style of Influence, Decision Making Procedures, Membership, Feelings, Norms, Maintenance Functions, Emotional Issues.

This process emphasizes the left-brain functions such as rational or logical thinking and forces you to step back and think about how to solve the problem. There are six basic components; define the problem, analyze the cause, identify criteria, generation solutions, select a solution, implement a solution.
I have applied this information into my professional career, I recently evaluated situations work to determine if I reacted to the immediate need/problem instead of taking a step back to identify the root cause and to generating a long-term solution. After further discussing a few situations with my manager, we both agreed the initial reaction was necessary to support another department however, I should analyze the situation and its root cause to generate a long-term solution. We approached the situation with an assumption that walking was the only course of action and failed to explore other alternative courses of action. Our group had members with good interpersonal skills such as active listening and asking questions to clarify. We had differing views on ranking items, when this occurred the member would expand on their reasoning and all members actively listened and compromise was made.
