This is a group reflection paper based on a support group that was conducted in class by myself and a fellow classmate. This is a review of the group formation, process, and feedback provided by group members and other classmates. Topics such as group purpose, rules, and role of facilitator and co facilitator will be covered throughout this reflection paper. I will also use the text as a guide for my group work practice. The purpose of the group is to provide a safe and positive environment for students who wish address issues of common concerns related to school challenges that we are facing during our matriculation in the Barry school of social work program. Many students were aware of the creation of the group and they volunteered to participate. Students are offered professional three hours of professional development hours as an incentive for attending the group. The group is composed of six members; two facilitators and four members. This group will be a safe place where students will be encouraged to share their stories and struggles and learn from one another. Students who are overwhelmed with school assignments, internship issues, misunderstanding, and so forth. They have an opportunity to express themselves and able to vent with their peers who are experiencing similar issues. During the session, we are going to demonstrate listening reflective skills, providing support, feedback, encouragement, and managing the groups with respect and dignity. The group was founded by Roger Edouard (facilitator) and Nicoy LaTouche (co facilitator). The group is a support group for Barry social work masters students that are currently enrolled in the program. During the forming stage of the group, we observed that there was a need for a support group where students can be provided with a safe environment to discuss any issues pertaining to school and life situations without being judged.
