My fellow citizens, Coming into this new year, I am working arduously into seeking more change in America, in the next few months we will be addressing enormous problems by establishing some new laws I have in mind. In the time being, many families are mourning and seeking for light in this dark world, my condolences to all of you. As you’ve been hearing in the news, 17 lives in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were taken away by a former student. This tragic has brought to my highest attention that guns are being violated and used in the worst possible way. The availability of guns have been seen to increase the risk of lethal violence and endangering numerous of lives, making this environment unsafe. And I would like to do anything to face and challenge this problem in our society …show more content…

We may not see this, but it’s the small things that lead to events like this previous mass shooting in Florida. We the people, need to watch our surroundings closer and seek the signs to help prevent situations like the recent one our country has witnessed. As some of you may know, it’s been mentioned that mental illness is a root cause of gun violence and I strongly disagree. There’s a study in which focuses on mental illness and vividly shows that 22% of mass shooters contain mental illness. You might be questioning yourself in this instant, what about the other 78% of mass shooters? Not only has it been shown that mental illness has been a factor for these mass shootings, but trauma in one’s life, drug or alcohol abuse and lackness in basic skills; respect for the authorities, adults.
