One of the most hotly debated topics is Gun rights. Terrorists, Radical libertarians, and school shootings cause problems within the United States that branch into more than just the public; it also takes a huge role within the presidential and state campaigns. Most shootings happen because of psychopathic tendencies or because someone was pushed to far. Although Gail is against gun rights, taking away every ones guns won’t solve random shootings. “Two years after the Sandy Hook tragedy, the top gun-control priority in the United States is still background checks.”( Collins , Once Again, Guns). Background checks don’t account for guns sold illegally or stolen. In 2014 there was a total 37,622 incidents of gun violence in the United States.

Passing gun control legislation that creates a universal background check and gun database system as well as passing mental health legislation that improves the health care system’s protocols and policies for assisting people with mental health disorders and that enacts counseling programs in communities and schools will decrease the likelihood of mass shootings in schools.
