“Risk isn't a word in my vocabulary it's my very existence” (Slash). This quote is by lead guitarist of Guns N Roses. Guns N Roses was a huge band in the 1980’s, this band made an impact on the music industry. Their music had fast and loud catchy instrumentals and lyrics. The music showed the teen resentment for authority and power. G N R played this kind of music until there falling out in 1996 when lead guitarist Slash left the band. But Guns N Roses still has a huge fan base even today from their original songs they make in the 80’s(Rolling Stones). The amazing talent in G N R is the only reason for the band major success. The band wouldn't go far without Axl rose's voice that can hit those hit pitches that most rock singers look for. Also Slashes outstanding guitar playing with those tricky solos that he did with ease (Axl Rose/Slash). Axl Rose was a problem child growing up in Lafayette, Indiana with his adopted indian family. By age 20 he had a big police record on him with public intoxication, criminal trespass, and contributing (Rolling Stones). But at a young age he was sexually abused by his father and that gave him psychological problems. Slash is the lead guitarist for the band and to many people he was the face of the band. But the funny part was he never showed his face with his hair and a hat covering most of his head. As he played on stage he would stand there and stop for nothing and would play with complete ease without missing a note with his face mostly covered. There was a story that he was playing for a crowed and smoking a cigarette and the cigarette fell from his mouth into his pants and waited till the end of the song to take it out. Then there was Izzy Stradlin he played rhythm guitar and was one of the people who made the band and Duff Mckagan who played bass and steven adler on drums. Before they were big they they played at smaller places like clubs and bars and such. But when GNR’s album hit the top charts they started performing before big name like Aerosmith, Metallica, AC/DC and The Rolling Stones (The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). But when word got out on how good of a performance the band was they started getting their own concerts. People loved GNR’s concerts they showed music expression and excitement on the stage. Axl Rose would go up on stage and put on a show. He would sing those high notes and and run around and go crazy and people loved it. People loved him so much they lost control when Guns N Roses came on stage. But tragically in the monsters of rock concert in England two people died when they were stampeded on (Rolling Stone). after the show they heard the news it crush the band. People loved the band so much they had the most attended concert in history (Rolling Stone). The only problem was the band's biggest attractions was never reliable. Axl Rose wouldn't even come to some of the concerts at times. This would infuriate the audience, Axl didn't come to a concert in Vancouver the crowd started to riot and throwing chairs up on to the stage. 6o people were hospitalized and the band equipment was destroyed and over $200,000 in damages (Rolling Stone). But people still wanted to see them after that career destroying act. All
