The land was large, dry, and barren. Miles on miles of dusty ground speckled with polluted grayish grass was all that was left for sore eyes to look upon. A small figure slowly dragged itself and its belongings next to the dug in path next to it. The path once flowed with cool, sparkling water, but now was nothing but a canyon-like trail that served to remind the people of what used to be. The figure was a man known as Guy Montag. He had been traveling this route for ten years, his feet no longer ached and his back no longer felt tight, the journey had permanently made its mark on him.

Guy smiled for the first time in a very long time. He couldn’t believe his own eyes. Did people actually look up to him? More people began to come up and ask him questions and compliment him.
“Okay everyone, I think that’s enough,” a soft voice said. Everyone became silent. The voice belonged to a young woman. She continued, “I knew him before he was on T.V., I think I should be the first one to say hi!” Guy couldn’t believe what he was seeing. It was her, the girl he had been searching for so many years. She was here, right in front of him. After telling himself so many times that she was gone, she was really here.
Guy’s tired eyes seemed to light up in a way that he hadn’t experienced for over a decade. He studied the face of this young woman. She was strikingly beautiful. Her hair was long and flowing with the wind, it framed her delicate face perfectly. Her eyes were wide and bright, her skin looked soft and innocent. She was white and clear. Their eyes met.
