He joins a commercial expedition called the Adventure Consultants led by Rob Hall and is on his way to Mt. Everest.
In the article "More Facebook Friends, Fewer Real Ones, Says Cornell Study" by ABC News, the author explains that now a days people have more friends on social media than real ones, that's a problem. In the text it says "We may "friend" more people on Facebook, but we have fewer real friends"(Paragraph 1). This means that people have more friends on Facebook then in real life and that people are spending all of their time on their phone with their "friends" instead of hanging out with their real ones. Also in the text it says "Forty-eight percent of participants listed one close friend when asked, 18 percent listed two and 29 percent listed more. A little more than 4 percent didn’t list anyone."
He likes to use similes by comparing things to one another to give the reader a better connection to Facebook cons. He says, “Posting information is like pornography… a slick, impersonal exhibition. Exchanging stories is like making love. ”(para.1) this has happened to most people then you would think. Who would think that pushing “post” would feel better than being with your mate?

Thompson states, “But where their sociality had truly exploded was in their “weak ties”--loose acquaintances, people they knew less well. Friends with Benefits by Kate Dailey is a very interesting reading. The paragraph is speaking on a Facebook friend, Sue, whom is not a close friend of the author. They were acquainted with one another in college through a sorority. Sue posted the death of her son and the author thought this was a strange thing to do, but later realized it may have been her way of grieving. She later thought Facebook was the right way to get the information to the masses without many questions and if someone saw Sue, they would not ask about her son and make it awkward for her or them.

I think that technology and the internet can and have brought people together. The reason that i say that is because if you are homeschooled, than you can stay connected with your old friends. But if you get cut off from the internet and stuff, and you canot get to talk to anyone at all, than you will be lonely and not have anyone to talk to. The internet has helped to get people help fast. It helps people who want to learn new things, and it helps people who want to share what they have learned.
In Friends with Benefits, Kate Dailey is talking about an old classmate that she doesn’t talk to anymore, whom she is calling Sue. Sue posted on Facebook that her son died. Kate first thought that she would be embarrassed to post something personal like that, but she realized that it does have benefits. She wouldn’t have to make depressing phone calls. Having friends helps you get through something tragic.
