It is vital to for public agencies, private sectors or non-profit organizations to gather information, in order to visually analyze how well or poorly their services are doing. There are various methods to gather information, and certain performance measurement indicators can support mission/objective statements as they further enhance the stability or reality of an organization. Therefore, as stated in Harry. P. Their primary motive is to keep communities safe and secure. Their personal ambition is driven through by the individuals who live and call New York City their home. The NYPD’s mission is to build healthy relationships with the communities and their members, while they “enforce the law, preserve peace, reduce fear, and maintain order.” (NYPD, 2016) In addition, The New York City Police Department acknowledges individual values and pledges to abide by them. The commitments pertain to, “protect the lives and property of our fellow citizens and impartially enforce the law.” (NYPD, 2016) In addition to, “value human life, respect the dignity of each and render our services with courtesy and civility.” (NYPD, 2016) The New York City Police Department’s mission and values have allowed NYPD officers to serve the nation in a fair and just manner, in many cases, to the best of their ability. Furthermore, the New York City Police Department addresses many other issues, relating to traffic violations, missing person investigations, counterterrorism or established methods to create solutions to problems which communities face, periodically. Therefore, as Hatry mentions, a mission/objective statement is meant to portray and highlight purposes programs or agencies exist and through the NYPD’s mission statement it is evident because safety and security are a priority.
