The controversy of open enrollment (HB-3681) in Oregon is leading to a countless number of unnecessary conflicts. According to Cascade Policy Institute, a nonprofit public policy research and educational organization that focuses on state and local issues in Oregon. States “the new law allows Oregon parents to enroll their kids in any Oregon public school district, as long as the receiving district is accepting transfers. No longer will the student’s resident school district be able to block a student’s transfer to another district ” (CPI 1). The newly formed law allowed many children such as myself to transfer schools without having to present any hardship. The majority of the HB-3681 is produced to assist citizens, it isn’t purposefully trying to harm schools. The majority of schools are benefiting from HB-3681 and it should not remain as an experiment. The benefits of choosing your own school district should be directly put in the constitution, no one should have the right to keep you from reaching your final destination in your life besides yourself. No school shall ever keep you hostage in their cell thanks to this law which the congress have permitted. You are now the only person who can stop you from achieving your goals in life, no school prohibit you to achieve your dreams. The HB-3681 law may have constructed mixed appeals; however, in the end the only reason we have school are because of children--the future of our world. If we restrict our children to choose where they will attend school and perhaps receive an education which is invalid we are only ruining our own future. A school shouldn’t prohibit a child from leaving their district if it is their own desire, no one wants nothing in life. Everyone has a objective they’d like to see themselves complete one day. If we blockade our own children from an education they are trying to receive, we are nothing but a bunch of selfish fools who have no motive but to sabotage our own
