The Hero’s Journey Similarities and Differences Between Hunger Games and Goonies The Hunger Games and The Goonies have many similarities and differences in how the author used the Hero’s Journey. Tests/Allies/Enemies One similarity between the Hunger Games and the Goonie's tests/allies/enemies section of the book is they both set off on their quest/adventure not to lose something they hold close/dear to them. In The Hunger Games, Katniss doesn’t want to lose Prim; in The Goonies, the Goonie’s don’t want to leave their houses and disband. Near the beginning of the Goonies, the Goonies say, “This is our last Goonie weekend together.” They don’t want to leave. One difference between The Hunger Games and The Goonies is when the adventure started in Hunger Games, it was Katniss on her own closing out all other people, and in Goonies, the Goonies rely on teamwork to get through booby traps and other tests.
