Introduction Human Resources Department is an essential part of every company. This paper explains some basic procedures of hiring, training, and disciplining at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Hiring
The job openings at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas are usually advertised in four ways. First, Recruiters will go to job fairs in the area to talk about what positions are available. They will talk with many attendees at the job fair and will receive resumes from attendees who are interested in some positions. The second way is that they will list jobs on the Cosmopolitan website. Third, they advertise openings on job boards such as Indeed and LinkedIn. They also work with professional organizations such as National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH), Association for talent and Development (ATD), Las Vegas Hospitality Association (LVHA), and The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association (NHLA) to find candidates for the jobs. …show more content…

Frist, Talent team at the Cosmopolitan will review resumes of applicants and check if they meet qualifications. If a candidate meet some basic requirements, and the job is a guest-facing role, they will be contacted for an Audition, which is how interview is called at the Cosmopolitan. It depends on the position whether there will be more interviews with department managers and key stakeholders. It is suggested by Barth & Hayes (2009) that an employer put into consideration the following three questions in determining whether to include a specific question on an employment application or in an interview. These questions are: “Does this question tend to screen out minorities or females? Is the answer needed in order to judge this individual’s competence for performance of the job? Are there alternative, nondiscriminatory ways to judge the person’s
