Hope, Dreams and Goal
[A] What gives people strength to get through a tough day? Hopes, dreams and goals are a fundamental factor in a normal day. [B] These three things help you keep your mind set on the important thing in life. [C] Once you lose those simple things what are you striving for?[D] Hope, dreams and goals provide people with the will power to surpass all their bad thoughts and strive for what they believe in.
[E] Hope is a pleasant thing that we all need in our lives, and it helps us dream for the stars.[F] As people have learned from experience. [G] “Hope is not just a feel-good emotion, but a dynamic cognitive motivation system” (Barry 1).[H] People use hope as a way to see what they are capable of. If you don’t have an end goal what is the purpose of doing anything? As shown in Of Mice and Men, George and Lennie had set a goal to start their own ranch and someday tend to their animals. [F] For instance, these goals they had made them work and continue to believe that they can make it. Goals always depend on hard work. [G] “Having goals is not enough. One has to keep getting closer to those goals, amidst all the inevitable twists and turns of life”(Barry 1).[H] For the kids in War Dance it took a lot of practice and dedication to achieve their goal of being number one in their dance and singing competition. All in all, they succeeded. These two examples had straightforward goals.[I] As for Walter Mitty, his were uncertain at times. At first he was lonely so his goals were set to getting a date. Then he found the girl of his “dreams”. All he wanted do was impress her. [J] Until he learned that Life Magazine was downgrading. That was when his goal was set to get the girl and keep his job. He was everywhere. [K] “ In a pivotal plot point when Mitty finally meets the photographer cum guru, it is not what he says but how he experiences that particular transcendent moment, that irrevocably transforms Mitty and helps him turn his life around”(Ma 1).
