Hatshepsut had to overcome many challenges in order to maintain control over the Egyptian region. This included shattering traditional stereotypes through the utilisation of propaganda. As Hatshepsut consolidated power in a society were females were inferior to men it proved a great challenge. Along with this belief the Egyptians believed that the ideal pharaoh was an image of the god Horus. Scholar Kate Narev affirms, the pharaoh was believed to be the living embodiment of the male god Horus (Narev, 2014).

He is a member of the Ennead, which is a group of the first original nine gods in Egyptian mythology. The other eight gods of the Ennead of Heliopolis include; Geb, Isis, Nephthys, Nut, Osiris, Set, Shu and Tefnut. All nine of the gods of the Ennead are the gods that are part of the creation story. Atum is depicted as having a false beard that, “was tightly knotted, plaited and hooked behind the ears (Atum, God of Egypt).” This beard is known as a divine symbol of the gods and was very important in many religious and ceremonial occasions.
Helios, the sun god in greek mythology, was the son of Titan Hyperion, and Titaness Theia. Titans being the first divine race that ruled before the Olympians. Helios being a second generation Titan, the Greek’s pictured him as a “Handsome Titan with flowing hair, driving a golden chariot, pulled by four fiery steeds across the sky.” (“Greek Gods and Goddesses”) Helios would perform this act daily, journeying from east-to-west in his magnificent golden chariot, guided by his four “fiery steeds”, Aethon, Pyrois, Phlegon, and Eous, this is meant to represent the Sun’s position in the sky throughout the day.
With the removal of the Hyksos, Thebes became the most prominent city in all of Egypt. With this came Thebes as Egypt's main cultural center and the rise of Amon as the central deity during the New Kingdom of Egypt. The popularity of this deity rose sharply, and eventually was merged with the sun god of Heliopolis, Ra or Re, to form Amon-Re, the creator deity and ultimate advisor of the pharaohs (Wikipedia.) Amon-Re affected Egypt as well as the rest of the world by unifying Egypt, influencing pharaohs that ruled under his name, and his influence on other cultures. Amon was primarily worshipped in Thebes and surrounding areas only.

Narmer's role as a unifier was crucial to the stability and prosperity of ancient Egypt, and his reign marked the beginning of a long and prosperous period in Egyptian history. Narmer was deeply connected to the gods and was believed to be a divine being himself, as seen in the depictions of him wearing the "white crown" of Upper Egypt and the "red crown" of Lower Egypt, symbolizing his divine power and authority. He also had a strong familial connection as he was believed to be the son of the god Horus, and his descendants ruled Egypt for many centuries. Narmer's legacy can be seen in the many artistic and architectural achievements of the period, including the famous Narmer Palette which depicts his victory over his enemies and the unification of Egypt.
God Horus Protecting King Nectanebo II is a sculpture belonging to the late period of the Egyptian culture at the type of the Dynasty 30 under the rule of Nectanebo II. The sculpture dates back to the period of 360–343 B.C. The sculpture is considered to originate from Egypt. According to the available data, it comes from Memphite Region, Heliopolis. This small scale greywacke statue that is recently kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art seems to be the only depiction of the king Nectanebo II who was the last native pharaoh of Egypt.
In Edgar Allen Poe’s short story,” The Cask of the Amontillado” he utilizes the literary element of irony to evolve the predominant theme of vengeance. The main character, Montresor ,has a diabolical plan to kill his so called friend, Fortunato. While they are walking down the damp catacombs, Montresor recommends “[that] they [should] go back… [because Fortunato’s] health is precious,”( Poe,3). The author uses irony to display to the reader that the goal of vengeance can be obtained in different ways. This illuminates the idea of punishing those who wronged you.
