Hitler reveals his plans (Hossbach memorandum) On November 5, 1937, Adolf Hitler held a secret conference in the Reich Chancellery(Office of the chancellor) during which he revealed his plans for living space, for the Germans at the expense of other nations in Europe.This meeting is known as the Hossbach Memorandum. This meeting outlined Hitler’s plan for the expansion of Europe. According to the Memodaream Hitler did not want to start a with Britain and France in 1939. He just wanted small wars to help with Germany’s economy. He wanted a full-scale European war with Britain and France between 1941-1945. He also had decided he would expand Germany with or without Brittain’s support. Hitler wished that Germany become an autarkic state, reasoning that reliance on others makes a state weak.
Hitler began the meeting by making all the men present in the conference to swear to secrecy. He scared many of his colleagues with his plans. Slovakia soon became a puppet state controlled by Germany. The Western states decided this was a threat and that Hitler's promises were worthless. Then Hitler moved the German army moved closer to the Czech border and the the czech armies moved closer as well. Then he promised neville chamberlain that he wouldn't take over czechoslovakia if he was given sudetenland. in September 1938, Hitler made terrible speeches against the czechoslovakian president benes at a nazi rally at Nuremberg. Then Sudetenland Germans rioted at and martial law was declared in Czechoslovakia. Chamberlain convinced his cabinet and the french to give hitler sudetenland in order to prevent war.
