During the 1930’s to the mid 1940’s, Europe had to deal with the mass murder of millions of Jews and World War II which was one of the most deadly wars in history. During World War II, the Nazis planned to kill off the entire Jewish Population in Europe. World War II happened during the Great Depression. It was a difficult time for the economy and the lives of many people in Europe. The war distracted people from The Holocaust because of the battles that went on, the invasions, and America’s immigration policies with Germany.

Hitler was the leader of Germany during the 1930’s and his mission was to invade other countries in order to gain power. He needed this power to have supporters during the Holocaust. Some may say that there was no way anyone had any idea about what was going on in Germany during the 1930’s but others may also say that it was too hard to tell what was happening because it might not have been true. For example, “The following March, however, Hitler annexed most of Czechoslovakia, leaving untouched only Slovakia, which was made a puppet state, and small border areas ceded to Poland and Hungary in return for their noninterference. On March 22, 1939, Germany seized from Lithuania a German- inhabited area called Memel” (SA WWII Historical Introduction to WWII. 2008, pg. 6). When Hitler started to become more aggressive when concurring other countries, Europe prepared for war (SA WWII Historical Introduction to WWII. 2008, pg. 8). Europe prepared for war because Hitler was invading countries that were willing to fight for their land and not just give it up. These invasions that took place caused people to get distracted from the Holocaust because many wars were occurring and people were too busy fighting for their land. People were more concerned over not having their country taken over by someone else. Invasions took place because Hitler wanted to gain power and kill off the entire population of Jews
