Korea would not, at all, be the country it currently is developed in to, without the different innovations and influence from China. Korea was able to develop various novelties that advanced the lifestyle and ultimately the culture of Korea, since the Three Kingdoms Period to the Choson dynasty. In the early Silla Dynasty, there was increase in having the mindset to learn and obtain knowledge, and the intellectual desire that was developed during this time was able to prosper in succeeding dynasties. Intellectual and technological innovations that were established influenced the culture and daily lives of the Koreans through the development of various innovations that facilitated lifestyle.

The ondol and maru was first introduced during the three kingdoms era and are flooring systems that coped with the hot climates of summer and the cold climates of winter. With the innovation of the heaters and cooling system, there was convenience and comfort during the cold and hot seasons for the people of Korea. There were alleviations in the lifestyle of the Koreans during this time period because of these innovations. Most people in the country had these technology in their homes and were greatly benefited from the innovations. There was development of different pagoda influenced from the Chinese architecture which promoted the cultural aspect of the buildings. (“Korean Architecture”) Pagodas are religious and cultural symbols in both China and Korea. Originally, the Koreans attempted to replicate the Chinese style pagodas and used the wooden material. However because of the expensive and difficult maintenance of the wooden material, the Koreans used the stone material, being more sturdier and lasting longer than the wooden pagodas. Sejong established a language system, called Hangul that was used in facilitating communication. (“Korea”) Sejong established the official Korean language, called Hangul, that was praised by the people of Korea for its easy comprehension and structure as well as its representation of Korea’s culture. The system of writing and transporting ideas allowed faster and easier spread of knowledge and ideas. Texts were published in this language to advance the sharing of knowledge and strengthen this form of teaching. The language was used throughout the whole country by all people, no matter their educational background allowing most all people of Korea was able to fully use Hangul. Cultural aspects include promotion in literary arts, such as in fictional stories as well as poetry. There was also promotion of reading and obtaining the knowledge because of the low difficulty to learn the language. Another major innovation includes the movable type, a transportable printing mechanism developed by Koreans during the Goryeo dynasty (“Korea”). Printing and publishing books which contained knowledge did not consume as much time and effort as in previous time periods because of the innovative printer that was established.
