As many know Pluto and Hades most well known story is of Kore and Persephone and how he was the cause of winter because he tricked Kore and Persephone into staying seven months of the year with him as his wife, which in turn broke Ceres’ and Demeter’s, Kore and Persephone mothers, heart. In the stories of both goddesses, Demeter and Persephone, the idea of sorrow was foremost. Demeter, goddess of the harvest wealth, was still more the divine sorrowing mother who saw her daughter die each year. Persephone was the radiant maiden of the spring and the summertime, whose light step upon the dry, brown hillside was enough to make it fresh and blooming as Sappho writes.
He only had a wife to rule by his side for only one third of the year. Everything made hades
He did not care about anybody or any of the other gods but himself. This explains that Hades is selfish and horrible to others. He also loves the control he gets from ruling the underworld.
For if Persephone hadn’t been returned, mankind would have certainly faced extinction. Lucky for Hades, he had not totally lost Persephone permanently. She ate of the pomegranate seeds while she was with Hades so she is forced to spend a small portion of each year with
Persephone stayed with Hades in the underworld, however because she did not love him, she wanted to punish him for what he had done, she decided that she wouldn’t eat or drink to make him feel guilty about making her stay there with a man that she didn’t love and being forced to marry. While Persephone was still with Hades, Demeter decided to speak to Helios the sun god, as he sees everything that happens and would know if Persephone was in danger. Helios described to her what had happened to Persephone, and that Zeus had suggested to Hades that Persephone would be a good
The goddess of growth and fertility, Demeter, had a daughter with Hades brother, Zeus. They named her Persephone. Hades fell in love with her and wanted to make her his wife. He politely asked for Zeus’ consent to marry his daughter. Zeus knew that Demeter would hate if Persephone lived so far away, but he thought Hades would be a good husband.
But by the rule of Fates that if someone consumes food or drink in the Underworld, they were doomed to spend eternity there. Hades had tricked Persephone into eating Pomegranate seeds which forced her to stay in the Underworld for some months during each year. Persephone agreed to this arrangement but during her absent Demeter was unhappy and neglected the Earth during this time. When Persephone came back to Earth, Demeter was overwhelmed with the joy of her being back and started to take care of the Earth
It was on one of these journeys that he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Persephone. She later became his wife and the queen of the Underworld. Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Hades abducted Persephone, taking her back to the Underworld to make her his queen. Demeter went into mourning causing the crops and harvest to fail.
Hades is one of the most important gods as he is the god of the Underworld. He is one of the most important gods for three reasons. The first reason is that he has a big and famous family. The second reason is the importance of being the king of the Underworld. Lastly Hades had a very significant fight with Poseidon and Zeus.
“Her return to the underworld in winter, conversely, saw the dying down of plants and the halting of growth. ” Persephone is a Greek Goddess of spring, and the queen of the underworld. She was abducted by her future husband and raped. She was taken to the underworld and was fed 6 pomegranate seeds, even though she was told never to eat food from the underworld.
Persephone’s parents are Zeus and Demeter, but Demeter cares more about her. Persephone is like Demeter’s prize possession, so she protects her daughter at all times. She was like the sun in the dark night. When Demeter isn 't able to take care of her daughter, the Earth nymphs take care of her instead..
Nonetheless, her father, Zeus, said he could take her as his bride, which was not supposed to be taken literally. Young goddess Persephone grew to love hades but missed her mother and her life on earth. Her mother, Demeter, searched for her and stopped food from being able to grow (because she was the goddess of harvest) until her daughter returned. One myth states that Zeus and Hades agreed that Persephone would stay one-third of the year with Hades, one-third of the year serving as a handmaiden to Zeus and one-third with her mother
At last, Zeus intervened on Demeter's sake and demanded Hades to return Persephone to her mother in her earthly home. Forever loyal to Zeus, Hades agreed to return her but not before he convinced Persephone into eating a pomegranate seed (see Figure 5). In (Figure 5) Hades is shown giving Persephone a seed that is assumed to be a pomegranate seed. This seed is what forged her fate in having to return to the underworld. This work of art is found on a vase.
Therefore, in order to satisfy both Demeter and Hades, Zeus proposed that Persephone would stay with her consort for the third of a year, and live with her mother for the remaining two thirds of it. On another note, since Hades strived to make Persephone the queen of the Underworld by taking her there, and she was compelled through her consumption of the pomegranate to have to return there, and repeatedly, due to the agreement, this tale marks the beginning of Persephone’s reign under the
My first experience associated with an AA meeting was a little nerve-racking. As I walked into the building and found my seat, I had an unusual amount of anxiety. Sitting there alone, I started to analyze the anxieties and fear someone with an addiction might be feeling when walking into the room for the first time. The meeting began on time and started with a moment of silence which was followed by the serenity prayer. A woman sitting in front of me was asked to read Chapter 5, “How It Works,” from The Big Book.
