Did you know that Harriet Tubman was called “Moses” by her people, for what she did for them. Harriet Tubman escaped slavery, helped her family escape and other slaves as well. Tubman in the Underground Railroad to help slaves on their journey to freedom, they called her “Moses” for her bravery, risks and care she had for others. Harriet Tubman was most important during Civil Rights, she helped rescue slaves, putting her life at risk several times. The Underground Railroad was a system of roads that helped lead slaves to freedom. It had routes with houses, buildings and safe places where slaves stayed on their way to freedom. The Underground Railroad was a secret network. The Railroad was made up of many members, both black and white who wanted to help slaves. Quakers also helped, they were a religious group of friends who helped enslaved people get to the Underground Railroad. There were Conductors, who guided the slaves and stationmasters who runned the places slaves stayed during their escape. The Underground Railroad had routes through Indiana, Ohio, and Iowa that were the most used, but there were other routes as well. The Railroad helped escape over 300 slaves during that time. The Underground Railroad wanted to make a change by finding freedom for slaves. Members of the Underground Railroad did their best to keep the network a secret, rescue slaves and find freedom. They influenced a lot of people that slavery wasn’t right, therefore more people worked to help them. Harriet Tubman wanted slaves to have the same freedom as she and others did.
