John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Kennedy) was an American president of the 20th century. Kennedy was a very popular president among the American people. Even after his death, it still became apparent of his love for his country. John F. Kennedy achieved most of his fame as a president by his natural charm and determination to serve his country, even amidst the pressures of the Oval Office. Kennedy was born on May 20, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph and Rose Kennedy. In all the Kennedy’s had 9 children, four boys and five girls. In 1961, he founded “Peace corps”, which let Americans volunteer to help around the world. He also used his childhood eagerness to spur along space exploration (Jfklibrary.org). He also faced many problems including public school discrimination on which he said “one hundred years of delay have past since Lincoln freed the slaves, yet their grandsons are still not fully free” (Jfklibrary.org). Kennedy used humor to ease the mood making tough decisions in the White House deriving from his childhood. Many believe this skill was obtained from when he was in the infirmary for weeks and entertainment was the only way he could keep visitors (John 1:14). Not everything Kennedy did in the White House was positive. Kennedy, just like his father, had a problem with affairs, having eight during his presidency. The mistresses included Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, and both White House secretaries. Very bluntly, Kennedy was recorded saying “if I don’t have sex every day I get a headache” (All).
