The influence of Martin Luther King jr. During the early 1930s African Americans and Caucasians were segregated due to the terms of the Jim Crow laws. The Jim Crow laws were laws that enforced racial segregation in the southern states. A young Martin Luther King jr. did not understand these laws and did not understand why kids whom he viewed as his peers did not want to be around him. From a small kid his life was greatly influenced by these laws and decided that he would help put an end to it. In my eyes he is inspirational because of the ways in which he protested, which were nonviolent and peaceful. As a writing major I also found his speeches inspirational because they were eloquently said and made a great Impact to a large amount of people.
