North Hills Elementary’s impact on my life My time at North Hills Elementary has significantly contributed to my social, academic and personal education, that has shaped my life. In primary education, we were taught the qualities of a good friend, but it wasn’t until North Hills that I fully realized how to be a good friend. I contribute this discovery to the small close-knit community the North Hills fosters. I met so many friends at North Hills that pushed me to think of how can I bet more empathetic and caring towards them. These life lessons are something that made me into the person I am today. Kot was/is a miraculous woman, she went beyond her role of teacher to become a part of each student’s family. Even after leaving her class, she would do anything in her power to help me in any aspect of my life. I know to this day that she still is keeping tabs on me to see the person that I am grown up to be, which she has majorly impacted. During my time at North Hills, I discovered that my main goal in life was to become a teacher. Since second grade, I had said I wanted to be a teacher but it wasn’t a serious goal because some kids at that age say they want to become a superstar but change their mind a few weeks later. This all changed in Mrs. Kot’s class where I realized this isn’t some phase this is what I truly wanted to do because she was an amazing role model. The main reason I want to become a teacher because I want to have the same impact on students that my teachers, like Mrs. Kot, had on me. I also want to become a teacher because enjoy watching as they learn more about the world, it makes me feel like I am learning it all over again through their eyes. I get so much fulfillment when I watch all the puzzle pieces click inside their head as they learn something new. Lastly, I love just watching them become their own individual person, they are discovering their likes, dislikes, strengths, and weakness and I will be lucky enough to be along for the
