“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” This quote more than adequately represents Robert Oppenheimer’s feeling toward himself after helping to create the world’s most dangerous weapon to date. Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer was a notable physicist in the early to mid 1900’s. His greatest claim to fame was his work on the Manhattan Project, the greatest US military secret of the time. His legacy, or so he saw it, was the destruction of the world as he knew it. His feelings toward this legacy lead him to pursue a life devoted to the aversion of nuclear proliferation and nuclear arms races between the US and the Soviet Union. His story shows us that even when faced with your own demons, you can still face them down and beat them. Oppenheimer
